Company Background and History
Bear IC (formerly Bear Construction), established in 1978, is a single source Construction Manager, Design-Builder, and General Contractor specializing in commercial construction throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. In July 2019, Independence Construction, a DiGeronimo Company, acquired Bear Construction, renaming the firm Bear IC. With similar core values and earned reputations for quality workmanship and integrity, the acquisition enabled both firms to build on their legacies and expand their construction services.
Since 1956, the DiGeronimo Companies have been leaders in challenging site development, concrete construction, demolition, and environmental solutions. Independence Construction was formed to bring a new approach to construction management and full scope execution of large commercial and industrial construction projects. Regardless of the service, our companies strive to push the envelope when it comes to adopting better methods for better results for our clients.

What We Do
Preconstruction
No project is ever successful without a comprehensive viable program from the onset. We provide our expertise in site selection, feasibility studies, design evaluation, systems selection, constructability review, conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, scheduling, and permitting.
General Construction
Bear IC has successfully completed over 750 projects as a general contractor. Utilizing existing plans, we work together with the owner and designers to ensure the project runs smoothly and is completed on time and within budget. We approach every project with our culture of teamwork with a view to solving problems, not creating them.
Design-Build
Through the Design-Build process, we provide a complete turnkey solution starting with site selection, through design, permitting, construction, and commissioning. Design-Build advantages include single source responsibility, budget management from concept through occupancy, and cost-effective constructable design, all while working in a productive team atmosphere.
Construction Management
We offer construction management delivery method as a combination of our preconstruction and general contracting services. Working in this fashion, we are engaged during the design process to assist in the development of the project design, schedule, and budget.
Property Development
Bear IC’s property development team will help owners find the right property for their next project. We take the owner's ideas from paper to reality with a team of professionals that will assist with site selection. We’ll work with the owner to prepare design solutions that will specifically work with their site to ensure their new property is a success.
